INTRODUCTION
Melee diamonds are tiny diamonds that are used to accentuate a single larger diamond in a piece of jewelry. These diamonds are the most commonly used diamonds in all diamond jewelry.
Melee diamonds are less than 0.2 carats. Dynamic Diamonds offers melee diamonds as per varying requirements of clients based on parameters such as price, quality, and size.
MELEE DIAMOND CUTS
Most melee diamonds are cut the same way as larger diamonds. There are 2 types of cuts in melee diamonds: Full Cut Melees and Single Cut Melees. As of today, Single Cut Melees are rarely used.
Full Cut Melees are produced with 57-58 facets and are an identical small size representation of larger diamonds. On the other hand, single cut have only 17 facets – 8 on the crown, 8 on the pavilion, and the table.
MELEE DIAMOND GRADING
Below are the different diamond clarity grades to consider:
- FL/IF: FL (flawless) and IF (internally flawless) diamonds are those with the best clarity.
- VVS1/VVS2: VVS (Very Very Slightly Included) diamonds have very tiny dot like inclusions that are only visible through a microscope. Not even a jeweler’s loupe can identify these inclusions.
- VS1/VS2: VS (Very Slightly Included) diamonds have inclusions that cannot be seen by the eye. However, these tiny inclusions can be seen with a jeweler’s loupe.
- SI1/SI2: SI (Slightly Included) diamonds have small inclusions in them. Inclusions in SI1 diamonds cannot be seen by the eye but can be seen in SI2 diamonds.
- I1/I2/I3: I (Included) diamonds have inclusions that can easily be seen by the eye.
